walking across the street

January 17, 2012

was an old man (60 or 70 years old).  He was pushing a grocery cart (we were no where near a grocery store) that had a few things scattered inside of it. He was walking past the policeman that was directing traffic (a normal occurrence at all major intersections because people are just now getting the hang of obeying traffic lights). What made me notice the old man was not the curious shopping cart, or his greeting of the policeman....it was the fact that he was carrying (not pushing in his cart, carrying) a "do not enter/one way" sign.  It was a big ball of concrete, the metal pole and then the sign. Just walking across the street. Another "normal" thing about Beirut.
